Helpful Tips and Instructions for your computer.
Image Resizer Powertoy (XP only)
Digital cameras today generally take pictures that are from 1.0 mega pixels to 7 or 8 Mega Pixels. When these pictures are stored then the Mega Pixels turn into megabytes which can be anywhere from 1.0 megabytes up to 7 to 8megabytes in size on your computer storage hard drive. If these pictures are sent to family and friends in E-Mails over the internet, then these transmissions can be significant in time to transmit or receive. This is particularly bad if you are using dial-up as your internet median. Image resizer is a program that when installed on your computer can reduce the number of megabytes in the size of the photo and reduce the time required to transmit.
How it Works
First install the program. When you are viewing a picture thumbnail simply right click on the photo and on the menu item select RESIZE PICTURES and left click. The original picture will stay and another picture will be created with the same name but with the word (small), (medium), or (Large) added to the name. As shown below.

The original photo is 1.33 MB (1,330,000 bytes) in size, the small is 73.1 KB (73,100 bytes), the Medium is 105 KB (105,000 bytes) and the large is 159 KB (159,000 bytes). These are all significantly smaller file sizes. The pixels are less so the picture will loose quality but will still be well presented to your friends and family. With most of the computers today the (Large) would be your best choice.
